The view from Matt McMurry's car. Additional views below.

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Powered by Mazda is the first level of the Mazda Road to Indy driver development program. As the lowest rung on the ladder, the USF2000 field is filled with drivers who are still learning the ropes. As a result each season there is one weekend that could best be described as a clunker. Last year, when I was doing press for one of the drivers, the clunker weekend was the season opener at Sebring.

This year the clunker was the triple-header this past weekend at Mid-Ohio. Between the weather and on-track incidents, most of each of the three time-certain races (gotta get the race in within a tight time window) was spent behind the pace car. The biggest incident of the weekend was the start of Race 3, which involved 10-11 cars (depending on who is counting) and was triggered by an overly aggressive (IMHO) move at the drop of the green flag. Fortunately no one was hurt, but several drivers had their championship aspiration dinged up like the cars they were driving.

Lots of flying pieces. Would hate to take one of those chunks to the head or throat.

I know several of the drivers in this race. There is a lot of talk about this on various Facebook pages. Not a lot of happy campers right now.
